BREEDERS’ Cup sensation Pluck will be the centre of attention at this weekend’s annual stallion parade at Vinery Stud in Scone as he makes his first public appearance since arriving from the US.
Pluck is the new recruit to the Vinery roster in 2012 joining his illustrious sire, More Than Ready who recently joined the `100 Club’ – made up of stallions whose black-type winners reached triple figures.
A spitting image of More Than Ready, Pluck has already amassed a sizeable book of mares to open his career and hopefully for Vinery, emulate his father’s Champion First Season Sire crown earned in 2006/07.
While Pluck is sure to garner his share of admirers this weekend, he will have competition from associate sires Congrats, Myboycharlie, Onemorenomore Testa Rossa, Mossman, Dubleo, Excites and of course the `captain’ More Than Ready. Unfortunately, the red hot new first season sire in the U.S, Big Brown will not shuttle this year.
With the new season now a month old and serving to begin later in the week, Vinery looks ahead with a buoyancy unmatched since it arrived on to the scene more than a decade ago.
“It takes a lot of time, work and effort to bring together a roster like we have at present,” says Vinery’s Adam White.
“I think we are also very fortunate to have such a roster. Proven horses such as More Than Ready, Testa Rossa and Mossman are models of consistency.
“Young stallions such as Onemorenomore and Myboycharlie have set the auction rings alight with their first crop weanlings and yearlings this year. And now a horse such Pluck offers so much to breeders at a very affordable price and he has already secured a great book of mares.”
The strength and depth of Vinery’s 2012 roster is evidenced by a snapshot of recent achievements by the group including;
More Than Ready – sired the winner or placegetter in all of the past 5 Golden Slippers
Testa Rossa – arguably the most consistent sire in the land and the sire of global stakeswinner Ortensia
Mossman – sired G1 winner Ofcourseican in 2011/12
Onemorenomore – sired two of the top 3 priced lots of the MM National Weanling Sale
Myboycharlie – his yearlings made eight and a half times his 2009 service fee at the MM Yearling sale
Excites – sire of a stakeswinner from his first crop.
Dubleo – one of the most affordable and prolific sires around.
“The future looks very bright for the Farm and our clients and we can’t wait for some of the big highlights this season including Congrats’ first foals, Onemorenmore and Big Brown’s first yearlings in the sale ring and of course Myboycharlie’s first crop to race,” White says.
“Vinery has always endeavoured to satisfy breeders need to make money on their investment and we believe our service fees on all of the stallions in 2012 are in-line with that policy,”
