NEONATAL UNIT SUPERVISOR

Vinery Stud, a leading thoroughbred nursery, is expanding and requires an experienced Neonatal Unit Supervisor to join our growing team. We are situated only 10 minutes from Scone, which has many cafes, pubs, and various boutique shops.

The role will involve:
– administering treatments to mares and foals.
– assisting the on-site vet when necessary.
– overseeing a busy hospital/foaling unit and reporting to senior management.
– providing antenatal mare care and postnatal mare and foal care.
– monitoring high risk pregnancies.
– guiding and teaching staff.

Skills required:
– Experience foaling mares and handling foals.
– Knowledge in administering various equine treatments.
– Excellent judgement and decision making.
– Accurate record keeping and timely reporting.
– Excellent communication skills.
– Veterinary nursing experience would be an advantage but not necessary.

FARMER/MAINTENANCE

Description:
Vinery Stud is looking for someone to join our farming team. The ideal applicant would be someone who enjoys working outdoors, who loves variation in their day and who is looking for a career in agriculture. This role presents a great steppingstone for a young person looking to get a wide range of experience and aiming to move into diversified Agriculture. Alternatively, it can be a long-term, stable job for someone with a young family or someone looking for engaging farm work close to town.

Responsibilities:
– Assist with pasture management program.
– Assist with farm maintenance including fencing and irrigation repairs.
– Low stress handling of our small beef cattle breeding herd.
– Maintain farm equipment.
– Keep our world class racehorses safe and thriving.
– Opportunities to cross train into the equine teams.

Requirements:
– Willingness to learn.
– Curious approach an advantage.
– Enthusiasm and cooperation when working with a team.
– Strong animal ethics.
– Training in all areas can be offered to the right employee.
– Trade qualifications advantageous.

NIGHT WATCH FOALING ATTENDANT

Vinery Stud is expanding and requires a night watch foaling attendant for the upcoming 2022 breeding season. We are located only 10 minutes from Scone and 2 hours from Newcastle.

The role will require the person to:
– check mares regularly overnight
– administer treatments for mares and foals
– assist the onsite vet when necessary.
– monitor the ongoing wellbeing of both mare and foal.
– have an understanding and appreciation for OH & S Procedures.

Skills required:
– Previous foaling experience is essential.
– Have knowledge in dealing with normal and abnormal foalings.
– Ability to foal mares on your own.
– Able to work alone and in a team.
– Have excellent judgement and decision-making skills.
– Accurate record keeping and timely reporting.

A competitive remuneration package for the right applicant is available with the option for on-farm accommodation.

You will be required to start in mid to late July 2022.
