STALLION HANDLER

Vinery Stud is a premier thoroughbred nursery located in the picturesque Hunter Valley. We currently have an opportunity for a reliable and motivated person to join our passionate and professional team in the role of Stallion Handler for the 2024 breeding season. In this exciting position you will work with Vinery’s elite stallion roster, in a world-class facility, with opportunity to grow within the role and business.

The role will involve:

  • all aspects of horse husbandry such as feeding, grooming and assisting with veterinary and farrier work.
  • parading stallions for clients and visitors.
  • general routine breeding procedures and daily duties required in the stallion barn.

  • display positive and encouraging behaviour.
  • will be punctual and reliable.
  • possess excellent horse handling skills.

ARRIVALS & DEPARTURES MANAGER

Vinery Stud is searching for an Arrivals & Departures Manager for the upcoming breeding season. This position is seasonal with the opportunity for full-time stud work following the completion of the breeding season. We are located in the beautiful Upper Hunter only 10 minutes from Scone and 2 hours from Newcastle.

In this role you will be required to:

  • coordinate with the Operations Manager for movements of mares arriving for cover and departing.
  • oversee and actively manage the care and treatment of mares visiting the farm for various periods of time.
  • assist with vetting and the preparation of mares for cover.
  • work closely with the stallion team as well as autonomously.

The skills necessary to succeed in this role include:

  • exceptional horse husbandry.
  • previous experience caring for and managing treatments for mares.
  • excellent communication, judgement, and rational decision-making.
  • accurate record keeping.
