NEW ZEALAND – A COLT by Vinery Stud’s first season sire Benicio sold for $70,000 at Tuesday’s New Zealand Bloodstock Ready To Run Sale at Karaka.
The colt was consigned to sale by Janine Dunlop’s Pheonix Park.
“He is a big, strong, correct horse,” Dunlop said.
“He’s going to be very, very powerful.”

Benicio’s associate sire, More Than Ready, had three lots change hands at the sale for a total of $430,000 including Lot 247, a grand-daughter of the arch-matron Eustaci.
More Than Ready was second leading sire at the sale by average and aggregate.

Meanwhile, Lot 166 (Testa Rossa – Alluring Song) will be heading back to Australia after being secured by frequent NZ visitor John Morrisey for $60,000.
Morrisey’s previous purchases at NZB Ready To Run Sales include Group One winner Rockdale.
