Trainer Paul Perry paid top-price for a Pluck colt at the Inglis HTBA Scone yearling sale on Sunday.
The Pluck colt is the first foal of Justsay Sumthink (Jugah). “I saw him this morning and thought he was the nicest one at the sale,” Perry said. “He’s a real quality individual.”
Justsay Sumthink won 10 times in Melbourne and she was part of Pluck’s first book at Vinery in 2012. His first yearlings sold to $100,000 at the Gold Coast Magic Millions in January and his Scone colt topped the leader-board at $66,000 after Perry fought of some stiff competition that included under-bidder Brett Cavanough.
Pluck (USA) is a replica of his sire More Than Ready and his unforgettable victory in the BC Juvenile Turf at Churchill Downs ensured there was quality and quantity among the 150 mares in his first book.
Vinery will stand Pluck for $9,900 (inc gst) this year. There are another 15 Pluck yearlings catalogued for the Gold Coast National Sale next month starting with a half-sister to recent NZ stakes winner Sir Singo (Lot 1532), a colt from G3 Blue Diamond Preview winner Ashkaleta (Lot 1937) and a colt from LR Vo Rogue Plate winner Dirty (Lot 2046).
