Husson (Arg) will be relying on Peron and Hi Son to help him burst through $2 million in earnings this weekend as Lucky Hussler confirms his Stradbroke preparation.

The Vinery sire has progeny earnings of $1.92 million going into May after siring a double with Miss Husson (Gold Coast) and Husson Choice (Canterbury Park) on Wednesday.

There’s more prizemoney on the line this Saturday. Peron has opened up favourite for the $150,000 Darley Crown (1300m) at Hawkesbury and Hi Son is right in the mix for the $100,000 Toowoomba Cup (2150m).

Peron is trained by Peter Moody and never got a clear crack at the leaders in Lucky Hussler’s G1 William Reid Stakes victory at Moonee Valley in March. She was held up again behind Avoid Lightning in the G2 Sapphire Stakes at Randwick last time and is ready to peak at Hawkesbury.

Hi Son led them up in the G3 Chairman’s Hcp (2200m) at the Gold Coast on Anzac Day and was under siege a long way out. He held on quite well for a fifth to Epingle and the Toowoomba Cup looks a suitable target.

Lucky Hussler is also heading to Brisbane for the winter carnival.  Trainer Darren Weir has set his top-notch sprinter for the G1 Stradbroke Hcp (1350m) at Doomben on June 6.

“He was a little bit jaded after the All Aged Stakes in Sydney so we waited an extra week and will run him in the (G1) Goodwood on Saturday week,” Weir said. “He’s bounced back now and will be nice and fresh for Adelaide – then it’s three weeks into the ($2 million) Stradbroke.”

Lucky Hussler was initially based with Kent Fleming in Queensland where he graduated to Group 3 victories in the 2012 Vo Rogue Plate and 2013 George Moore Stakes at Doomben.

He has earned $894,000 after making $100,000 to the bid of Glen Makauskas at the 2011 Gold Coast Magic Millions. His dam Talaq Dancer (At Talaq) is an older half-sister to Australian Horse of the Year Weekend Hussler.

Vinery will stand Husson for a $13,200 (inc gst) service fee in 2015. He’s one of the best-value stallions in the Hunter Valley with yearlings averaging $282,500 at the latest Inglis Easter Sale
