VINERY Stallion More Than Ready showed another string to his bow impacting heavily on both two-year-old features at Royal Randwick this afternoon.

As well as tallying up his 74th individual stakes winner courtesy of Defiant Dame’s crushing win the Gimcrack Stakes, one of the stallion’s former Group One winners and now NZ resident sire, Perfectly Ready played a lead role in the Breeders’ Plate producing the runner-up Isle Be Ready from his first crop.

The Bede Murray trained colt was foaled in New Zealand and bought at Karaka by the Kembla conditioner for $70,000.
Isle Be Ready is out of Jesmonds Gift, a half-sister to Golden Slipper winner and successful sire Canny Lad as well as his Group One winning sister and multiple stakes producer, Canny Lass.

“To have a placegetter in the Breeders’ Plate is sure to give the stallion a great kick-start,” Vinery’s Conor Phelan said.
“Australia places a heavy influence on 2YO racing so it’s a hard market to break into from the outside. For a New Zealand stallion to do it is obviously something that won’t be lost on breeders over there.”

Murray’s colt went some way to earning himself a berth in next years’ Karaka Million (1200m) which is open only to yearlings sold during the Karaka sales series.
