All Too Hard sired three trial winners at Rosehill on Monday the 4th of September, to ramp up his encouraging start to the new season.

The Vinery sire has taken an early lead on the Australian second-season sires’ premiership and his 3yo trialists – The Mighty Fed, Darhad & Newburgh – are poised to send him further ahead as the season progresses.

All Too Hard was a top-class 2yo who matured into a champion 3yo and his stock are following suit.

The Mighty Fed shaped up for the spring carnival with a stylish display under Kathy O’Hara.  He tracked the leaders and, when given rein, ranged up to beat a wall of horses over 1030m.

He won at Warwick Farm and Randwick in April before going out for a winter spell.  “He has a lot of ability and has come back well,” trainer David Payne said. “We are aiming him for the (G1) Golden Rose and hopefully he keeps developing towards the (Gr.1) Caulfield Guineas.”

The Mighty Fed is from Brisbane stakes winner Swiss Rose (Thorn Park) and cost South African owner Markus Jooste $310,000 at last year’s Inglis Easter Sale.

Stablemates Darhad and Newburgh also impressed in their hit-outs over 900m for Team Hawkes at Rosehill.

Darhad jumped a length in front and was then restrained when Faba skipped away to a big lead.  After balancing up in the straight, Brenton Avdulla sent him after the front-runner and the chestnut won hard held.

Team Hawkes produced Darhad as an early-season juvenile for placings at Rosehill and Randwick last October.  He was a $370,000 buy for a syndicate managed by China Horse Club at the Gold Coast Magic Millions and is from Sydney stakes winner Kakakakatie.

Newburgh drew wide on Monday and was given plenty of room to gallop by Avdulla.  There was a wall of horses vying for the lead at the furlong before he edged clear in a nice piece of work.

He was placed behind top colt Menari on debut at Randwick in January and, like Darhad, has been given time to mature this year.  A Turangga Farm homebred for Stuart Ramsey, he is from Testa Rossa’s Flemington stakes winner Panipique.

Vinery stands All Too Hard for a $44,000 (inc. GST) service fee.
