Aquis Farm spent over $3 million during the first two days of the of the Gold Coast Magic Millions with $600,000 of that amount outlaid on a colt by Vinery legend More Than Ready and $550,000 for a colt sold on account of Vinery by Not A Single Doubt.
Aquis Farm general manager Shane McGrath was suitably impressed by the More Than Ready colt from Black Prada (Lot 406). “The fact he’s by More Than Ready speaks for itself and the dam is by our own sire Domesday,” McGrath said. “He’s a quality colt with plenty of size and our team really liked him.
“He vetted perfectly and we were happy to get him because $600,000 was right at our maximum.”
The colt was offered by Newhaven Park and is the first foal of Black Prada who is an unraced half-sister to Appearance, a multiple Group 1 winner of the Coolmore Classic, Queen Of The Turf Stakes, Myer Classic and Canterbury Stakes.
Aquis Farm added another two yearlings by More Than Ready to its arsenal on Friday starting with the $340,000 colt from Global Dream (Lot 617). The dam won in Sydney and was placed in a Champagne Classic Gr.2 in Brisbane.
The $280,000 colt from Heart Ashley (Lot 645) is a half-brother to Ameristralia who won at Moonee Valley last year prior to a Group 3 placing at Caulfield.
Vinery’s colt by Not A Single Doubt (Lot 206) is a three-quarter brother to Sydney stakes winner Sandbar (Lonhro Plate LR & Rosebud Hcp LR). Their dam Tallow (Street Cry) won a Vanity Stakes Gr 3 at Flemington.
“He looks very sharp and is a lovely mover with any amount of potential,” McGrath said. “He’s from a talented mare and we’ve had a bit of luck with Not A Single Doubt. “It’s a lovely family and we’ve retained his older half-sister Summer Surf.
“We will put all the colts into the system at Aquis Farm before deciding on their trainers.”
