SUPERSTAR More Than Ready mare More Joyous became a racetrack millionaire in the most dazzling circumstances posting her seventh straight win after making today’s prized Group 1 AJC George Main Stakes (1600m) a one-act affair.

The famous Randwick mile was expected to be a clash between stablemates Theseo and More Joyous but it turned out to be a procession for the $1.60 fav who sprinted away from her rivals to win by 3.3-lens.

Corey Brown settled the 4yo More Than Ready mare on the outside of stablemate and multiple Group 1 winner Theseo in the run but that galloper had no response to More Joyous’ acceleration in the straight and the race was over quickly.   More Joyous went on to score effortlessly by 1 3/4-lengths over Trusting with Empires Choice finishing a further 3/4-length back in third.

The George Main win was More Joyous’ seventh in a row and second at Gr.1 level.  Her winning run began last spring in the Tea Rose Stakes (G2) and Flight Stakes (G1), before capturing the Light Fingers Stakes (G2) and Surround Stakes (G2) in a light autumn preparation.  She opened her present campaign with victory in ther Sheraco takes (LR) at Rosehill on August 28 before adding the Theo Marks Stakes (G2) on the same track a fortnight later

“She beat the best we have got in NSW and beat them easily – she toyed with the opposition,” said winning trainer Gai Waterhouse to Breednet.com “She is outstanding – always has been.”

Brown has ridden More Joyous in all three starts this preparation.

“She is the perfect racehorse,” Brown said. When you press the button she finds another gear and then she finds another gear under pressure.”

Although Waterhouse would like to run More Joyous in next week’s Epsom Handicap (G1) at Randwick, owner John Singleton has decreed the mare go to Caulfield for the Group 1 Toorak Handicap (1600m) in a fortnight.

Australia’s latest equine millionaire, More Joyous has an overall record of 9 wins and a third from 12 starts for earnings of $1,144,300.

Foaled in New Zealand when her dam visited Zabeel, More Joyous is out of AJC Oaks (G1) heroine Sunday Joy a daughter of the legendry Sunday Silence.

Sunday Joy is out of the Queensland Oaks (G1) winner Joie Denise (Danehill) the eight of nine named foals and only stakes-winner out of the outstanding racemare and influential Denise’s Joy.

On September 14 Sunday Joy foaled a full sister to More Joyous at John Singleton’s Strawberry Hill Stud.
