DUBLEO gelding Izzypud turned in a miraculous performance to shed his maiden status on Gosford Cup Day following six placings from seven previous start.

The locally-trained 4YO finally gave connections their just reward having placed at all but one of his previous seven starts.

Izzypud was well back in the early stages of the 1000m dash but began to improve around the turn

Such was his speed that the horse essentially sling-shotted himself off the bend making ground rapidly up the short run-in.

He arrived in time to beat Ease The Tease in what was a popular result for favourite backers.

”Izzypud was beaten a nose at his start and went close a few more times after that, so it’s great for him to breakthrough – he really earned it,” Vinery’s Conor Phelan said.

”(Trainer) Kylie Gavenlock has obviously brought the horse back in superb order and looking at the win and his cpmsistency, there is no reason why he can’t measure up as his campaign unfolds.”
