MELBOURNE mare About Ready’s obvious affinity with the Morphettville track was confirmed after the daughter of More Than Ready collected her second Stakes race at the venue when winning the SAJC City of Marion Stakes (1200m) on the weekend.
The Mick Price trainer 5YO turned in a herculean performance in light of a slow start resulting in her giving away a considerable advantage in the fifteen horse field.
About Ready was tenth early but improved to be midfield on the turn eventually overhauling those in front to win by a half-length over Rock the Moment with Miss With Attitude some three lengths away in third.
About Ready’s only other trip across the border resulted in a narrow victory over stablemate Rightfully Yours in the Listed SAJC Durbridge Stakes (1200m) in October.
Prior to that, the mare had strung together consecutive placings in the Group 3 VRC Bobbie Lewis Stakes and Listed Testa Rossa Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield.
