MELBOURNE – IT was a long time in the making but Red Ransom entire All American finally cracked it for an overdue Group One win in yesterday’s VRC Emirates Stakes (1600m) at Flemington.

The David Hayes-trained galloper was making his ninth attempt to win a major, his previous best performances were a second in the Blue Diamond Stakes and third in the Coolmore Stakes.

Yesterday’s win was an emphatic endorsement of his talent as he streaked away to win the $1 million mile by 2.5 lengths ahead of last start Cox Plate winner So You Think.
All American’s time of 1:33.98 seconds was less than 0.5 seconds outside Scenic peaks course record.

“With All American, he has been a very frustrating horse because he’s been running good races, his sectionals have been great, but he just hasn’t been winning,” winning trainer David Hayes said.
“He’s now a very valuable stallion prospect because he’s not from the Danehill line.”
