The daughter of Testa Rossa bagged her first Group One win in dramatic style coming from last of the 14 turning for home on a day where backmarkers were struggling to gain traction.
Ortensia began to increase her momentum over the rise passing horses at will and racing near enough to the grandstand rail.
Her thrilling last stride win was a popular one with punters who backed the mare into $4.60 favourite.
Trainer Tony Noonan has mapped out an ambitious plan for Ortensia this preparation which includes no less than five Group One contests.
The four-year-old will be headed for Brisbane in coming weeks to revisit her sterling campaign in the Sunshine State last year.
