Singapore two year-old Genius will return to Group company after another promising victory at Kranji on Sunday.
The Onemorenomore youngster landed his second win from three starts for trainer Leslie Khoo and jockey Barend Vorster. He settled behind the early leaders and then accelerated to a winning break before falling in by a half-length from Aloha (Red Dazzler).
Genius will be set for the G3 Singapore Juvenile Championship (1200m) on July 26 and has the form to win having finished second to Melbourne bound Super One in the Singapore TC Aushorse Golden Horseshoe, G2 in May.
“He did well coming off the turn but was green in the straight,” Khoo said. “Horses this young always look around when they have no one in front of them and will only put in the additional effort if another horse comes up alongside.”
Vorster echoed those comments after weighing in. “He concentrated for the first half of the home straight but then idled and started looking around for company.”
Genius (2g Onemorenomore – Gooniwiggal by Rock Of Gibraltar) cost $34,000 at the 2014 Inglis Ready2Race Sale when catalogued by Muskoka Farm.
Onemorenomore (Red Ransom) continued his excellent run closer to home when Final Decision won again at Rosehill on Saturday. The Vinery resident has sired the winners of 43 races this season and is in fourth spot on the Australian second-season table behind I Am Invincible (86), Nicconi (60) and Medaglia d’Oro (48).
Vinery will stand Onemorenomore (Red Ransom) for a $6,600 (inc GST) fee in 2015.
