More Than Ready has produced another three year-old filly with black-type prospects in France.
His second-starter Sonnerie closed the French Oaks meeting at Chantilly on Sunday with a one-length victory in the Prix de la Colleraie (1600m). She had been runner-up going a mile on debut at Saint-Cloud in May.
Sonnerie (3f More Than Ready – Pas De Reponse by Danzig) was smartly into stride and led under restraint before accepting a tow behind the favourite Olanthia. Sent forward by Maxime Guyon to reclaim the initiative, she kept on strongly in the style of a filly with a bright future.
Leading owner-breeders Alain and Gerard Wertheimer bred her from their G1 Cheveley Park Stakes winner Pas De Reponse. The mare’s earlier foals include French stakes performer Reponds Moi (More Than Ready).
The Wertheimer brothers and trainer Freddy Head unveiled another promising More Than Ready filly named Pitamore in March. She is also from a Danzig mare and followed a first-up win at Deauville with a second in the LR Prix la Camargo (1600m) at Saint-Cloud.
The Wertheimers raced champion filly Goldikova (Anabaa) to 14 Group 1 victories in their blue and white silks and their latest star Solow (Singspiel) completed a hat-trick in Group 1 ranks winning the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot on Tuesday.
More Than Ready passed another marker when Lockroy posted his 150th Australian win of the season at Rosehill on Saturday. The Vinery champion stands for a $66,000 (inc GST) service fee.
