NOT long after recording his 100th individual stakeswinner, More Than Ready has kept the scoreboard ticking over adding a popular new stakeswinner to his incredible tally on Sunday.
Having just her second start, Funfair, a 2yo daughter of More Than Ready and the Distant View mare, Fleuron, netted her first black-type win when she took out the Colleen Stakes (abt 1000m) by 3 1/4-lens at Monmouth Park.
Trained by Christophe Clement, Funfair started as a warm punter’s favorite in the field of eight 2-year-old fillies and kept her unbeaten record in tact covering the five furlongs over the firm turf course in 56.68.
“She’s a really special horse,” winning jockey Joe Bravo said.
“You had to be impressed with today’s effort.”
More Than Ready has so far sired close to 1000 individual winners with 102 global stakeswinners to his credit.
His 8-times Group 1 winning daughter, More Joyous, was due to trial at Randwick this morning.
