MORE Than Ready debutante Defiant Dame looks ready and able to become her sire More Than Ready’s third Magic Millions winner after a dominant all-the-way win in today’s prestigious AJC Gimcrack Stakes (1000m) at Randwick.

The David Payne trained 2YO flew out from barrier 11 to take up the running and was never headed or threatened by her rivals.  On straighening, the More Than Ready filly spearing on to record a breath taking 3.5-lens win in a new race record time of 57.41 seconds which was almost a full second faster than the colt Smart Missile ran in the Breeders Plate that followed.  The time recorded was truly remarkable considering the track was officially rated a dead (4).

“She’s the perfect little two-year-old,” winning jockey Corey Brown enthused.

“She’d shown that in the trials – she’d jumped to the front and controlled.”

“She accelerated much better today than what she had done in her previous two trials.”

“They were never going to lead her. Even drawn out wide – people were a little concerned with the barrier draw, but she’s got gate speed.”

“She nearly pulls you off the back because she leaves so quick from the gates – within two or three strides I was well out in front and the race was pretty much over.”

Brown believes the Magic Millions 2YO Classic in January would be an ideal target for the precocious youngster.

“I said to David (Payne) to put her away in the paddock now and leave her alone for a little while and bring her back for the Magic Millions.”

More Than Ready’s reputation as a sire of juveniles is unsurpassed and has seen him twice crowned as the nation’s Champion Sire of 2YO’s.
He is the only sire to have produced consecutive Magic Millions and Golden Slipper winners in the same year.

Super Saturday proved a productive time for the Vinery resident despite his gun 3YO filly More Strawberries narrow defeat in the Group One Flight Stakes (1600m).
More Strawberries only narrowly failed in her bid to emulate another More Than Ready filly in More Joyous when just beaten in the Group 1 Flight Stakes.

She maintains her authority as the best of her age and sex having earlier banked both the Furious and Tea Rose Stakes.
