RYAN READY WITH ASSASINATE

THE likelihood of a wet track at Rosehill was enough to sway Gerald Ryan around to running Assassinate in tomorrow’s Group 2 ATC Silver Slipper Stakes (1200m).

Ryan was in two-minds about whether the son of More Than Ready would take his place in the field but when the rain arrived on Wednesday morning, he was bound to accept.

Apart from the fact that the breed are famous for their ability to handle wet track, Ryan has seen enough of his youngster in the early trackwork mornings to know that he is true to his line.

”I know he goes through it,” Ryan revealed.

”Done it good – really good actually.”

Assassinate debuted with a soft all the way win at Wyong on last Sunday week justifying long range support for the colt to win the Golden Slipper Stakes.

”He was impressive there, I don’t know what he beat and he ran fair time – nothing startling – but I know he’s improved again since,” Ryan said.

”From what he’s shown me at home, he is at the higher end of my two-year-olds this season, he’s not a natural jump and run two-year-old, he’s probably going to be a better three-year-old but of the colts, he’s up there somewhere around Amorino.”
