BARRIER 18 A PANE IN THE GLASS

GLAMOUR filly Pane In The Glass is seeking to keep her perfect first-up record intact when she opens her autumn campaign in the Group 2 ATC Light Fingers Stakes (1200m) at Warwick Farm on Saturday.

The daughter of Testa Rossa ran out an easy winner on debut in Brisbane before going to prove herself as one of the best two-year-olds of her era bagging the rich Inglis Nursery/Classic double as well as placings in the Group 1 Sires Produce Stakes and Champagne Stakes.

Her only other first-up appearance resulted in a gutsy win in the Group 3 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m) where she inflicted a rare defeat on boom filly Streama who holds favouritism for this weekend’s re-match.

“Pane In The Glass is obviously a very good horse at any time but she hasn’t been beaten first-up and that is significant as far as tomorrow in concerned,” notes Vinery’s Conor Phelan.
“Unfortunately she has drawn barrier 18 and while there is a long run into turn and horses can sling-shot off the bend, Rosehill would have been a better venue for her. That said, the big field ensures that there should be some pace on and if she has any luck getting a run, she’ll be motoring home.”
