THERE was no more fitting end to today’s ATV Vinery Stud Handicap (1300m) than via the Dubleo son Skateboard who roared back into form with a blistering win ahead of Mossman mare Next The Universe owned and bred by Vinery part-owner Gerry Harvey.
Skateboard ($5.50) led throughout to post a slick time of 1:15.50 reeling off a 33.8s sectional for the last 600m to hold off Novacastrian mare Next The Universe who lost no admirers with her sterling effort.
Four-year-old Skateboard has now won 5 races from his 14 starts with earnings of almost $90,000 kick started with an unforgettable 7-lens win in a Goulburn Maiden on debut.
Skateboard was purchased by Jamie Walter’s Proven Thoroughbreds for $42,500 at the 2008 Magic Millions Yearling Sale on the Gold Coast and is trained at Warwick Farm by his brother Guy who also took out today’s feature Listed Tattersalls Club Cup (2095) with progressive galloper, Straight Albert.
Skatebaord is the third foal of Flying Spur mare All Trumped Up whose first delivery is the stakes winning More Than Ready mare Hot ‘N’ Ready bred on the same cross as Golden Slipper hero Sebring and this season’s VRC Maribrynong Trial (1000m) winner, Cambiaso.
The hulking bay’s triumph comes hot on the heels of Dubleo mare Little Vicki’s last to first win at Canterbury in December for trainer Stephen ‘Crusher’ Farley who puts the polish on dual Group 1 winner, Sincero.

Meanwhile at the Gold Coast connecitons of Dubleo miss Millyen were celebrating the mare’s first win when she took out today’s GCTC Ladies’ Day 7/1 Handicap (1100m) by 1 1/4-lens at the Gold Coast.
The Beaudesert trained four-year-old had raced 7 times previously recording 3 seconds and a third.
