SCONE trainer Greg Bennett, the man who broke-in Makybe Diva, rates Dubleo filly Double Fun as a stakes filly in the wake of her dynamic 5.3-lens win at Tamworth last Sunday.
She covered the 1200m in a slick 1:09.58, a full second better than the Woolooware’s 1200m Mdn 40 minutes earlier and faster even than the Benchmark Handicap winner, Ay Dee Bee who has won four from six starts.
”Double Fun was completely and utterly dominant, she gave nothing else a chance. Her cruising speed is just fantastic,” Bennett said.
”I think she is a stakes-filly in the making for sure,” Bennett says,”She is doing it at the moment without really knowing what she’s doing. It’s just a (matter of) harnessing the ability.”
Double Fun was bred by Raj Upadhyaya (trading as Yashraj Breeding and Racing) from Jade Hunter mare, Corrofin.
Mr Upadhyaya also bred and maintained a majority interest in Carry On Cutie, a Group One daughter and member of More Than Ready’s first crop.
”Both Double Fun and Carry On Cutie are by a son of Southern Halo out of Mr Prospector line mares,” Vinery’s Conor Phelan said.
”Congratulations is to Raj and Mark at Yashraj, they could very well end up with yet another nice stakeswinner on their hands.”
