TESTA Rossa’s reputation as a prolific sire of winners was enhanced on the eve of the 2011 Magic Millions Yearling sale which starts tomorrow after a winning treble in Victoria on Sunday.
The Vinery Stud resident is among a closely bunched group of stallions on the 2010/11 top ten sires (by winners) with just 7 (winners) separating the third placed Lonhro and Magic Albert in tenth spot.
Testa Rossa (9th) has sired 60 individual winners so far this season including four stakeswinners, the same number as Encosta de Lago and his associate sire at Vinery, More Than Ready.
Testa Rossa’s latest additions to the tally are the Mornington mare Our Poetic Princess and Seymour galloper Relative Velocity, who book-ended the quaddie at Kyneton on the weekend.
Across at Warrnambool, Peter Moody’s filly There’s Only One (Testa Rossa – Aunty Hilda), scored an emphatic 3-lens win in the Keane’s Civil and Plumbing Maiden (1400m) at her third career start.
There’s Only One was spelled after finishing runner-up on debut at Geelong and returned with a fast finishing third at Warrnambool leading up to her weekend triumph.
Warrnambool proved to be a profitable day for followers of Vinery stallions – Mossman gelding Mossadina won the second race for father and son duo Bill and Symon Wilde.
Testa Rossa eldest Hunter Valley progeny are only three year olds and already include Stakes winners Sistine Angel, pictured winner the Edward Manifold in the Spring and Panipique.
