ONEMORENOMORE gelding Tonto is aiming to emulate the deeds of his half-brother Lethal Jones by taking out this weekend’s $100,000 Listed WATC Melvista Stakes (2200m) in Perth.
Tonto is well placed to add his name to an illustrious honour roll of past winners including the likes of Heroicty, Joindre and Plastered having used up all of his bad luck when second in the 1800m Listed J. C. Roberts ar Ascot.
The Lou Luciani trained 3YO has won 4 of his 12 starts with 2 placings and close to $200,000 in earnings.
Tonto is a son of Group 1 winning 2YO Onemorneomore out of a mare by Woodlands Stud’s VRC Derby hero Arena.
Provided he performs to expectation on Saturday, Tonto’s post-Melvista gaol is the $415,400 Group 2 W.A.T.C Derby (2400m) at Ascot on April 11.
Luciani’s gelding is from his sire’s first crop as is the crack Kiwi stakes-placed filly Purcentage and Kris Lees super quick Group 3 VRC Gucci Stakes (1100m) winner Onemorezeta.
Onemorenomore was in the news last weekend courtesy of an impressive debut win in Victoria to the regally-bred Cipher, a maternal son of 2007 MRC One Thousand Guineas (1600m) winner Serious Speed.
