TESTA Rossa’s success with two-year-old black-type winner’s on both sides of the Tasman this week may culminate with a Gr.1 victory when the untapped Fontelina steps out in the Patinack Farm T.J. Smith Quality (600m) in Brisbane on Saturday.
The Anthony Cummings trained colt is currently on the second line of betting at $3.60 following his easy 1 3/4-lens win in the Listed Phoenix Stakes (1350m) at Doomben on 10,000 day.
Fontelina was bred by Gerry Harvey’s Baramul Stud and is from the Timber Country mare, Decipher – herself a daughter of former crack filly Electrqiue.
Earlier in the week, Testa Rossa sired his 34th individual stakeswinner when the Kevin Gray-trained Testa Secret added the Listed Castletown Stakes to her debut win at Awapuni.
”Her two wins have been on bad ground but I do feel she will be just as good on the top of the ground,” Gray said.
”She is a filly, I feel, with a great deal of potential.”
