NOT many horses are able to boast a 50 percent win strike rate but that’s exactly where Testascana is placed after notching his 8th win from 16 outings yesterday at Caulfield.

The son of Testa Rossa was backed from $1.75 into $1.50 to take out the MRC 2011 Legacy Badge Appeal Handicap (1600m), surging clear for an easy 1 1/4-lens win.

It was the third straight win for the Peter Moody-trained galloper who is now unbeaten at the mile in three attempts at the distance.

“He is a very consistent, tough galloper, very typical really of the Testa Rossa breed,” says Vinery’s Adam White.

It would seem that Testascana has milked all that he can while stepping up the ladder and will likely be forced into stakes grade before too long.

“That’s the obvious path for the horse,” White commented, ”Peter has given him a lovely grounding and taught him how to win races, his confidence levels must be very high so there’s no better time to tackle the better races than while a horse is in this red-hot run of form.”
