THE 2011 Inglis Melbourne Yearling Sale got off to a flying start when Lot 1, a Testa Rossa colt from the Vinery Stud draft, sold for $95,000.
The chestnut is out of former crack 2YO Gaelic Princess who placed in both the Blue Diamond Preview and Prelude behind Vinery’s own Halibery (Red Ransom) before finishing fourth in the final leg won by Kusi.
”You’re often uncertain of the strength of the market when you draw Lot 1 in a sale but he was a good colt who attracted plenty of interest from buyers,” says Vinery’s Adam White.
There are 15 Testa Rossa’s to go under the hammer at the ‘P1’ sale which concludes on Wednesday.
