Immediately following the yearlings of the July Sale, Fasig-Tipton transitioned seamlessly to the Summer Selected Horses of Racing Age Sale.

The sale topper was the very last horse to go through the ring – Hip 524, Temper Mint Patty (by Congrats), who attracted a winning bid of $350,000 from Jacob West, agent for Repole Stables.

“She’s heading up to Saratoga and going to [trainer] Todd [Pletcher],” said West, who signed the ticket for Repole. “[Repole] was locked on her ever since they entered her into the sale. She’s a New York-bred filly that he knows can go and compete in some New York-bred stakes up there.”

The multiple stakes winning three-year-old was consigned by Bluewater Sales as agent for Mark Stanley. Bluewater’s Meg Levy said her New York Oaks victory cemented the owner’s decision to enter Temper Mint Patty in the auction.

“She’s absolutely stunning,” Levy said. “I was so pleasantly surprised when she shipped in, because she was a late add on Saturday as an entry. She’s ready to go. She’s what everybody’s looking for to go have some fun in Saratoga with all those New York-bred races.”

The Congrats filly was last seen romping to victory by 9 1/4 lengths in the July 3 New York Oaks (LR, 1700m), the Mark Stanley colour-bearer also owns a 13 ½ length conquest of the Joseph A. Gimma Stakes (LR, 1400m) as a juvenile. Trained by Jeremiah Engelhardt, her resume includes placings in the Maid of the Mist (LR, 1600m), the off-the-turf Herecomesthebride Stakes (Gr.3, 1700m) and the May 25 Bouwerie Stakes (LR, 1400m) two starts back, and she has bankrolled $274,050 from her 9-3-1-2 line.

A $30,000 Fasig-Tipton New York-bred yearling at Saratoga, Temper Mint Patty went to Stanley for $95,000 as a Fasig-Tipton Florida two-year-old. She was produced by stakes victress His Beauty (Adcat).
