THE talk might be about his sons but the peerless More Than Ready/Danehill cross is poised to deliver another Group 1 winner when More Than Ready filly More Than Sacred lines-up in the New Zealand Oaks (2400m) at Ellerslie.

The Tony Pike trained bay burst into classic calculations after her strong on-pace win in the Group 3 Sunline Vase (2100m) at Ellerslie on March 6.

Prior to that she finished third, beaten 0.8-lens, in the Group 3 Sir Tristram Stakes (2000m) at Te Rapa.

More Than Sacred is currently on the second line of betting behind pre-post favourite, Lowland Stakes winner High Fashion (by O’Reilly).

More Than Sacred was bred by her owners Raffles Pty Ltd and is out of the stakes-placed Danehill mare, Danlaga.

The filly boasts an overwhelming array of world class staying influences via broodmare sires such as Caerleon, Rheingold, Welsh Pageant and as Epsom Derby winner Crepello and Hyperion.

The More Than Ready/Danehill nick has already produced more than 50 winners led by Group 1 winners Benicio and Dreamaway – both of whom won Derbies as well the Group 1 sprinter and recent Champion NZ First Crop Sire, Perfectly Ready.

More Than Ready has sired four new stakeswinners in the past three weeks highlighted by unbeaten colt Verrazano who tightened his grip on Kentucky Derby favouritism after an easy win in last Saturday’s Grade 2 Tampa Bay Derby in Florida.
