EXCITING Dubleo gelding Skateboard is set to make his much anticipated return to racing seeking to add a Metropolitan victory to his impressive record of three wins from four starts.
The Guy Walter-trained 3YO burst on to the scene with a dazzling 7-lens debut win over 1000m at Goulburn carrying 58kgs before adding a Class One and Bm60 Handicap during his opening campaign.
”Skateboard is running next Wednesday at Warwick Farm over 1000m in a Bm70 race with Hugh Bowman to ride,” says the gelding’s part-owner, leading syndicator Jamie Walter.
”We were very happy with his trial when he ran second at Randwick. The horse is rated 68 so he’ll probably come in with 57kgs. Guy and I are very happy with his progress.”
”Guy thinks he is Saturday class horse at least but you never really know until you put them down in their races.
”And I have to also say if he is going to exclusively be a sprinter – which is the way he is shaping – each step up in grade in Sydney is a massive one.”
Jamie Walter paid $42,500 to secure Skateboard at the 2009 Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
”He is a three-quarter brother to Hot ‘N’ Ready that Steve Englebrecht trained,” Walter said,
”Skateboard is out of same mare as Hot ‘N’ Ready who was obviously by More Than Ready who is a son of Southern Halo, who also sired Dubleo.”
