NOT many horses can maintain a fifty percent win strike rate let alone at Metropolitan or Stakes level but Mossman galloper Stirling Grove is one well acquainted with the winner’s stall.
The Richard Jolly trained sprinter made it 6 wins from 12 starts on Saturday when he took out the VRC My Room Plate (1100m) at Flemington.
Stirling Grove was backed in from $3.50 to start the clear cut $2.90 favourite duly rewarding fans with an all the way win.
The effort sees his earnings go beyond $350,000 – a healthy return on Jolly’s initial $52,500 outlay on the colt when selected from among Vinery Stud’s 2009 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling sale.
”Stirling Grove is a very consistent horse who has only missed a place twice in his career and they were both stakes races,” says Vinery’s Adam White.
”He is undefeated at Flemington having also won by 2 1/4-lens on Melbourne Cup day last year.”
