Despite 105 Stakes winner’s Vinery’s foundation stallion Red Ransom notched just his second Group 1 winning 2yo when exciting two-year-old, Rumya, claimed the rich Durban Golden Slipper (1400m) at Greyville in South Africa on the weekend.

Foaled in New Zealand in 2009, Rumya is from the second-to-last crop of Red Ransom who passed away at Vinery towards the end of the 2009 breeding season.

Rumya has strong ties with one of Australia’s greatest ever racemares given that his 3rd dam is none other than 1983/84 Horse of the Year, Emancipation.

Red Ransom has sired 105 stakeswinners around the globe including 15 Group or Grade 1 winners led by 6-times Group 1 winner and 2009/10 Australian Horse of the Year, Typhoon Tracy.

Red Ransom’s only other two-year-old Group 1 winner, Onemorenomore, is about to embark on his third season at Vinery Stud.

Winner of the AJC Champagne Stakes by 4-lens, Onemorenomore’s first crop of weanlings filled two of the top three spots at the recent Magic Millions National Weanling Sale on the Gold Coast.
