THE John O’Shea-trained filly Romantic Moon produced one of the most impressive performances in the juvenile category seen so far this season when she surged away to win at debut at Wednesday’s ATC meeting at Gosford.

Bred and owned by Gooree Pastoral Company, Romantic Moon justified his $1.40 quote powering away over the final furlong to set up a comfortable victory in the John Cootes Handicap (1200m).

“She’s just a beautiful type of filly and has got a lovely action and a brain to go with it, so she’s got a bright future.” winning rider James McDonald told TVN.

“She sat outside the leader which was probably not the ideal spot but she travelled really well and that’s the professionalism of the horse and full credit to her.”

Romantic Moon is the latest exponent of the truly remarkable relationship between More Than Ready and daughters of Danehill.

The ‘nick’ has provided over 50 individual winners including Group 1 stars Benicio, Perfectly Ready and Dreamaway.

Romantic Moon’s dam, Tropical Affair, beat subsequent Magic Millions winner Catnipped in the 1997 running of the Listed VRC Maribyrnong Plate (1000m).

The mare has proven to be a wonderful producer for Gooree with a record of seven winners from her eight foals to race including Group 3 Testio Stakes winner Matras and the stakesplaced Ashikaga.

Another of her daughters, Tarlaqena, boasts the Stan Fox winner and T.J. Smith runner-up, Kabayan, as he first foal.

Romantic Moon’s polished debut victory comes in the same week as Vinery suerstar More Than Ready sired his 1000th individual winner.

Earlier this year, More Than Ready joined the ‘100 Club’ reserved for stallions whose stakeswinners number in triple figures, currently 107.

Romantic Dream’s was a timely reminder for buyers ahead of the 2013 round of yearling sales which begins on the Gold Coast on January where More Than Ready is represented by 28 lots
