PUNTERS looking for a kick-start to Slipper day are advised to throw their support behind lightly-raced Testa Rossa gelding Cocky Raider who resumes in the Group 3 Schweppervescence (1400m) at Rosehill tomorrow.
The David Payne trained 2YO came from last in a field of five to score an impressive win on debut at Kembla over 900m and was given a break after failing at Rosehill next time out.
Cocky Raider is sure to be fit enough to run a strong 1400m off the back of three first-class trials.
”He ran a half-length second to Salade who won the Pago Pago and is a good chance to win the Slipper then he came out an won a heat the other day,” notes Vinery’s Adam White.
Cocky Raider is presently quoted at $17 to win on Saturday and will have the services of leading rider Corey Brown.
