FAVOURABLE barrier draw’s has enhanced the Karaka Million (1200m) prospects of all three Perfectly Ready juvenile’s in Sunday’s evening feature at Ellerslie.
The Lisa Latta trained Brackenwood will start from barrier three while the pre-post favourite Super Easy has the difficult task of jumping from gate 15.
Brackenwood won his first two starts in impressive fashion before finishing third in the Listed Murdoch Newell Stakes (1200m) at Pukekohe.
The colt cost NZ$26,000 at the New Zealand Bloodstock Select Sale.
Brackenwood is one of three Perfectly Ready 2YO’s that made the made the final 18 out of more than 1000 Karaka Million hopefuls across the three NZB sales in 2010.
Joining him are Queen Boudicca and the Murray and Bjorn Baker trained Beejay Belle (2nd emergency).
”Perfectly Ready is the only stallion with three representatives in the Karaka Million which is a great feat, but to do it in his first year is quite incredible,” Vinery Stud’s Conor Phelan said.
”He is far and away the Leading Freshman Sire in New Zealand with five individual winners and three stakes performers including the Breeders’ Plate runner-up, Isle Be Ready.
”His success is also a feather in the cap for his sire, More Than Ready. whom it seems is going to be a very valuable sire of sires as more of his colts make their way to their stud.”
The 2011 Restricted Listed Karaka Million (1200m) field has been announced. The race is NZ’s richest 2YO event and it takes place this Sunday at 7.13pm at Auckland’s Ellerslie racecourse.
