TESTA Rossa mare Ortensia can set the record straight with a win in tomorrow’s hotly-contested Group 1 Galaxy Handicap at Royal Randwick.
The Tony Noonan trained galloper handed in a herculean last to first win in last years’ Galaxy only to have the race controversially taken off her after returning a positive swab.
”You can never set things right but it is a nice race for her and she has raced well up there in the past,” Noonan told Sportsman’s Ray Hickson.
Ortensia hasn’t raced since running sixth behind More Joyous in the Futurity Stakes (1400m) on February 26 but looked sharp winning a trial at Cranbourne last week.
Noonan had planned to run Ortensia in the Robert Sangster Stakes last month but looked to this race after she pulled up a bit scratchy from her run at Caulfield.
”She just struggled with the 1400m but she has freshened up nicely for this,” he said.
”She jarred up badly after her last run at Caulfield and it took a fair while to recover from it so that put the Sangster out of the situation.
”So we decided to concentrate on getting her ready for this.”
