PUNTERS who like a gamble on the identity of the leading first season sire would do well to take notice of Onemorenomore’s freshman year when it arrives.
Onemorenomore’s oldest progeny are about to be born. As Inglis’ Jonathon D’Arcy state’s below, they’ll be sort after at select sales in 2013 and capable of winning the Golden Slipper in 2014.
But already, pundits can see why the former Patinack-owned galloper and now Vinery Stallion has it all ahead of him.
Nathan Tinkler paid $800,000 for the Red Ransom-Palia colt from Cressfield’s 2008 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling sale draft.
“Onemorenomore was a very popular yearling,” Inglis director Jonathan D’Arcy recalled.
“He looked like a real two-year-old type and I think that is going to stand him in good stead because he should throw two-year-old types as well.
“He had a great muscle tone with big forearms and gaskin and was a horse who sold really well.”
Red Ransom son’s have been in heavy demand from studmasters in the last couple of seasons, with no less than a dozen of them currently registered with the Australian Stud Book for the 2012 season.
Among those that have helped raise Red Ransom’s profile as a sire of sires are former Champion firstseason sire Charge Forward, as well as Darley resident Domesday.
“Onemorenomore represents a great sire-line and for breeders looking to breed horses that suit Australian conditions and suit Australian trainers at the yearling sales, he is the horse does tick all the boxes,” D’Arcy said.
As well as all that, Onemorenomore is the only Group 1 winning two-yearold by his sire in the world, having beaten glamour colts Manhattan Rain and Tickets by four lengths over the famous Randwick mile.
“That win at Randwick in the Champagne, when he beat a good field of two-year-olds, was just an awesome performance.
“I think he is a top-class type with that sire-line and that (service fee), I think he’s the right sort of horse for our market,” D’Arcy added.
