MORE Than Ready son Regally Ready will target the Breeders’ Cup Sprint later this year after his come from behind win in today’s feature G3 Twin Spires Sprint (1000m – turf) at Churchill Downs on the Kentucky Derby card.

The Vinery-owned four-year-old has won seven times from his 13 starts with previous highlights in the G3 Santa Anita San Simeon Handicap and the Joe Hernandez Stakes at the same venue.

Regally Ready was ridden by Corey Nakatani who maintains a perfect record on the exiting sprinter.

”This makes me three-for-three on him,” Nakatani said,”And they’re thinking this horse is only going to get better and be a Breeders’ Cup horse by the end of the year.”

Regally Ready is prepared by Eclipse Award winning conditioner Steve Asmussen who also trained champions Curlin and Rachel Alexandra.
Asmussen is keen to see Regally Ready given his chance on the biggest stage in racing.

”He has run quite a bit recently so now we need to map out a plan that gets him back here for (the Breeders’ Cup),” he said.

“The More Than Readys are good on any surface but they’re even faster on turf,” Asmussen said.

Regally Ready completed the five-furlong Turf Sprint in :56.57 on firm turf and is well placed for his return to Curchill Down’s for the Breeder’s Cup Sprint later this year.
