MOSSMAN gelding Second Effort turned back the clock at the famous Warrnambool carnival this week when posting his third Stakes win and second successive Wangoom Handicap (1200m).

Trained by Clinton McDonald, the 6YO came right away from his rivals to score an emphatic 1.8-lens in this year’s version beating off a fast finishing That’s the One.

Second Effort’s midweek triumph is the tenth career win for the horse whose earnings eclipsed the $550,000 mark.

Second Effort is one of 22 stakeswinners sired by Mossman alongside Group 1 performers Ofcourseican, Love Conquers All, Triple Honour, Segments and the Golden Slipper runner-up Pure Energy.

His win comes hot on the heels of Mossman’s outstanding son Buffering’s second straight win in the Group 2 Victory Stakes at Doomben lodged last Saturday.

Buffering has won over $2.2 million and placed in 7 Group 1 races until now, twice behind the wonder mare Black Caviar and was also a nose second to Hay List in the 2012 Newmarket Handicap.
