Mossfun maintained the successful association between Team Hawkes and Vinery Stud at Rosehill on Saturday.

The daughter of Vinery sire Mossman won the $250,000 Inglis Nursery on debut at Randwick in December and franked that form-line in the Widden Stakes L.

Mossfun (2f Mossman – Eye For Fun by Snitzel) is the 28th stakes winner by Mossman and connections are now considering a start in the G1 Golden Slipper Stakes.  She firmed into $26 for the $3.50 million event on April 5 after cruising to a convincing victory over Ygritte (Snitzel) and Twirl (Lonhro) on Saturday.

“She’s done everything right and John Hawkes was very keen after her last trial,” Emirates Park CEO Trevor Lobb said.  “She’s a real racehorse and gives everything.”

Hawkes also trained All Too Hard to Group 1 victories in the Caulfield Guineas, C F Orr Stakes, Futurity Stakes and All Aged Stakes before he retired to Vinery.

Mossfun races in the colours of Hussain Lootah, a son of Emirates Park principal His Exellency Nasser Lootah and her dam is an unraced half-sister to Ken Russell Memorial winner Cat D’Antibes (Tale of the Cat).

An eye-catching filly with a big white blaze, she graduated from Session II of the 2013 Inglis Easter yearling sale for $85,000 and has now earned over $259,000.

Mossman has two yearlings catalogued for the Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling sale and another three entered for the Inglis Easter Sale.  The first to parade at Newmarket (Lot 308) is from G1 Queensland Oaks winner Allow (Rahy).
