Perth breeder Bob Peters rarely goes overboard when rating his winners but Perfect Reflection could be the exception to the rule.
The More The Ready filly maintained her unbeaten record with a remarkable victory in the LR Belgravia Stakes (1200m) at Ascot on Wednesday. “The way she looks walking past makes your heart flutter,” Peters declared. “I’ve always like her and she was my pick among our fillies at the start of the season.”
Perfect Reflection became the 149th stakes winner for Vinery champion More Than Ready after she shouldered out of a pocket at the top of the straight to defeat stablemate Arcadia Dream by over a length. “I was very concerned in the run,” Peters added. “The last 400m was the best part today and 1600m will be her best distance.”
Peters indicated she will head to the LR Burgess Queen Stakes (1400m) on October 31 and G3 Champion Fillies (1600m) on November 14.
“I had a load of horse but we were in a tricky spot,” jockey Willie Pike admitted. “She was bolting and I was happy once we got into the clear. I was also impressed with the way she settled and that suggests next time won’t be too hard, either.”
Perfect Reflection is a sister to the More Than Ready stakes winners New Image (LR Belmont Oaks) and Ideal Image (LR Burgess Queen Stakes). Peters and his wife Sandra won the 1999 WA Oaks with their dam Reflected Image (Bluebird).
