MORE Than Ready is currently second on the General Sire’s List and has the best part of two and half months and a winter carnival of racing to reel in and pass current leading sire High Chaparral this season.
Whilst More Than Ready’s son Perfectly Ready looks set for 1st Season Sire’s Honours in NZ, the Vinery Stud captain trails the leader by a little over $600,000 in combined progeny earnings but that gap could easily close with some of the season’s richest races still to be run.
“More Than Ready has had a fantastic season up to this point,” Vinery’s Adam White said.
“He has sired 8 stakeswinners and 15 stakes-performers this season and sired yet another a Golden Slipper placegetter (Elite Falls, More Strawberries last year following Phelan Ready and Sebring).
“As well as a another great year with his two-year-olds, More Than Ready has Dreamaway over in Perth – she won the WATC Oaks and WATC Derby double and is very likely to head to Melbourne for the Caulfield Cup.”
More Than Ready has won a variety of titles in his glittering career including Australia’s Champion First Season Sire (2004/5), Australian Champion Sire of 2YO’s (twice) and the USA Leading Sire of 2YO’s in 2010 courtesy of his Breeders’ Cup Juvenile double-play.
Meanwhile, as well as being a stallion of tremendous value himself, More Than Ready seems certain to become a valuable sire-of-sires as his career develops.
“Perfectly Ready is the Leading New Zealand First Season Sire by earnings and winners,” says White.
”He has sired 5 stakes-horses, including Isle be Good, who was runner-up to Smart Missile in the Breeders’ Plate at his debut.”
