This week’s NZB 2YO Sale leader-board highlighted the continuing influence of More Than Ready as a sire and sire of sires.
More Than Ready had two colts on offer and they sold for $325,000 and $200,000 while his G1 Golden Slipper winning son Sebring topped Day 1 with a $340,000 colt and another son Pluck was represented by a first crop son selling for $200,000.
The Vinery champion’s first lot at Karaka was the colt out of USA bred mare Fleeting Touch. He’s a half-brother to G2 VRC Sires’ Produce Stakes winner Running Tall and was purchased by Hong Kong billionaire Mr KP Fung for $200,000.
The More Than Ready – Imananabaa (Anabaa) colt made the Top 10 leader-board at $325,000 when knocked down to Warwick Farm trainers Mauro Poletti and Amanda Turner. He was offered by Diamond Lodge and is out of a mare who won the G1 NZ Railway Hcp.
“He’s a very showy colt with a beautiful head,” Diamond Lodge’s Jeremy Whale said. “He was shown more than most and our reserve was $200,000. “We’re over the moon to get $325,000.”
The Poletti Corporation also weighed into with $340,000 for the Sebring – Brilliant Jewel (Danzero) colt. “He was Mauro and Mandy’s top pick from the Breeze Ups,” NZB agent Danny Rolston said. “They love the stallion and he inspected super.”
More Than Ready is marking time on 149 stakes winners and his next career milestone at stud could come as soon as this Saturday with On The Move in the LR Murdoch-Newell Stakes at Avondale. Trainer Shaun Marsh has also nominated the filly for Te Rapa on Sunday.
