AUSTRALIA’S glamour girl More Joyous has tightened her grip on next month’s Doncaster Mile after a dazzling win in today’s G2 Canterbury Stakes at Rosehill Gardens.
The daughter of super sire More Than Ready made light work of her rivals to score an easy 2.8-lens win over Mossman entire Love Conquers All ($5.50) with Demerit ($21) a further 2.2-lens away in third place.
More Joyous ($1.35) gave punters a rare opportunity to regroup after three short priced favourites failed including the previously unbeaten Sepoy who had his colours lowered in the Todman Slipper.
The outcome of the Canterbury Stakes was never in doubt as Nash Rawiller steered More Joyous to the easiest of wins much to the delight of trainer Gai Waterhouse.
”She was just like the queen of the turf today, she did it so easily,” said.
”She gave them a galloping lesson.”
More Joyous latest win takes her tally to 13 from 16 career starts and pushed her earnings past the $2 million barrier.
More Joyous is a $2.60 favourite with TAB Sportsbet to win the Doncaster Mile at Royal Randwick on April 19.
The win followed two new Stakes winners for More Than Ready with Regally Ready claimng the Joe Hernadez Stakes overnight at Santa Anita and the dashing win of Elite Falls in the Reisling Slipper.
