ON A day which ended with a triumphant Doncaster Mile win for champion mare More Joyous and stablemate Landing, More Than Ready’s own personal super Saturday kicked off with his 10th individual 2YO winner for the 2011/12 season when debutante Better Than Ready saluted in Queensland.

The Kelly Schweida trained youngster met with significant approval from punters who backed the horse in from double figure odds, as much as $21 in fact, to start $2.80.
Whatever ‘mail’ there was on the horse proved to be spot on as the colt swooped on his rivals in the straight to set up a commanding 1.3-lens in the BRC Ramsay Health Care Handicap (1000m).

Better Than Ready’s win continues a remarkable run of success for More Than Ready in the juvenile category this season; he has so far sired 4 two-year-old stakeswinners including the Blue Diamond winner and Golden Slipper placegetter Samaready as well as black type winners Raceway, Ashokan and Cambiaso.

“The money for the Better Than Ready suggested that he was above average and the way that he came from off the pace but still put a margin of them is confirmation that he might be a carnival horse,” Vinery’s Adam White said.

Better Than Ready is a son of an Agnes World half sister to stakeswinners Publishing (by Testa Rossa) and Miss Mooney Mooney.
His grand-dam, Sally Magic, finished 4.3-lens second to Vinery resident Testa Rossa in the 1999 Magic Millions.

Better Than Ready was sold to Schweida for $140,000 at the 2011 Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
