Miss Husson is targeting a career-high victory in the $200,000 Magic Millions Fillies & Mares Hcp (1300m) on January 10.
The daughter of Vinery sire Husson is a last-start winner of the Sky Racing Plate (1350m) at Ipswich on Christmas Eve. “We’ve always had a high opinion of Miss Husson,” trainer Bruce Hill said. “She is raced by a syndicate of ladies and they have been very patient.”
Miss Husson (4m Husson – Virgin Snow by Desert Prince) has raced 16 times since a debut second in a $100,000 2YO race at the Gold Coast in March 2013. She was also runner-up in the G3 Sunshine Guineas in June.
A $32,000 buy at the 2012 Magic Millions QTIS yearling sale, she is owned by Jane Baran, Lisa Bratina, Margaret Foster, Annette Hammersley, Sue Jones, Michelle Saba and Donna Small.
Miss Husson is from an unraced sister to Group 1 winners Hotel Grand (AJC Spring Champion Stakes & AJC Randwick Guineas) and Outback Prince (QTC T J Smith Classic).
“Most of my horses come from the QTIS Sale,” Hill said. “QTIS is a great scheme and the incentives are a big plus for the industry.”
Hill went back and bought Miss Husson’s younger brother for $65,000 at this year’s QTIS Sale.
There are 9 Husson (Arg) yearlings entered for the Gold Coast Magic Millions next week starting with a colt from Vinery Stud’s Group 1 Robert Sangster Stakes winner Bel Mer (Lot 105).
Hoofnote: Husson sired his first juvenile winner of the season last Saturday when Puledra scored on debut at Morphettville. She assumed control on the corner to win by a length for Finniss Equine Retreat owner-trainer Wayne Francis.
