OUTSTANDING More Than Ready colt Mahisara will be aimed at the Group 1 MRC Caulfield Guineas in the spring after his Listed Tatt’s RC Australia Post Stakes (1400m) victory at Eagle Farm yesterday.

The win completes a spectacular first campaign from the Paul Messara trained two-year-old who debuted in May with an easy win at Kembla.

Mahisara backed that up with a slashing all the way win at Canterbury prompting Messara to whisk him up to Brisbane to compete at the Winter carnival.

While there, the colt was able to place in both the Group 2 BRC Sires Produce Stakes (1400m) and the Listed BRC Dalrello Stakes (1200m) where he was beaten by a short-half-head.

Saturday’s triumph has convinced Messara that Mahisara was capable of measuring up against the best of his generation come spring.

”I think he might be looking for 1600m and we will give him his chance,” the trainer said.

”If he comes up again races such as the Caulfield Guineas will be on the agenda.”

Messara’s high opinion of his charge is on solid ground given the resumes of some past winners of the Australia Post Stakes including Over, Shellscrape and Sirmione – all of whom went on to Group 1 glory.

Mahisara races in the familiar colours of Kia Ora Stud owner, Mr Ananda Krishnan, who bred the colt from his Danehill mare – Darsini.

Mahisara is one of 87 individual stakeswinners sired by More Than Ready and is further proof of the unparalleled ‘nick’ between his sire and Danehill mares.

Others who boast such a cross include; Group 1 winners Benicio, Perfectly Ready and Dreamaway, Golden Slipper placegetter Elite Falls and Readyor.

Mahisara joins a host of More Than Ready progeny to have won a stakes race as two-year-olds alongside the likes of Golden Slipper heroes Sebring and Phelan Ready in Australia and the Breeder’s Cup Juvenile winners Pluck and Regal and Ready in the USA.
