Rosehill trainer Michael Freedman began building his new Australian stable with a strapping chestnut colt by Vinery sire All Too Hard at the Gold Coast Magic Millions on Thursday.
He paid $370,000 for the All Too Hard – Kakakakatie yearling that was offered by Segenhoe Stud (as agent).
Freedman initially thought he had missed out but, due to a bidding mix-up, the colt re-entered the sale-ring and he was successful the second time around. “He looks an early runner and is one of the nicest types I’ve seen here this week.”
All Too Hard continued his successful start to the Magic Millions on Day 2. He leads the first-season sires’ table by aggregate after the two sessions with 21 sold for $4.73 million at an average of $225,238.
His top-seller on Thursday is from Zeditave mare Kakakakatie who was a Listed winner of the Wenona Girl Quality and P J Bell Stakes in Sydney.
Freedman has returned home after 8 years in Singapore where he trained over 450 winners headed by G1 Singapore Gold Cup winner Tropaios and G1 Raffles Cup winners Cheyenne Dancer, Always Certain and Super Ninetyseven.
“I will start operating out of Rosehill by March,” he said. “I’m looking forward to the challenge and many of my Singapore owners have indicated they will support the new venture.”
The next best yearling on All Too Hard’s Day 2 leader-board was the colt from G1 Turnbull Stakes winner Devil Moon. He was sold by Vinery (as agent) and was purchased by Belmont Bloodstock Agency for $290,000.
