VINERY resident More Than Ready proved why he is considered to be the world’s number one sire of 2YO’s after More Awesome secured him a fourth Magic Millions race title today at Morphettville.
The Tasmanian trained More Awesome joins 2007 Adelaide and Gold Coast Magic Millions winner, Augusta Proud as well as Gold Coast Magic Millions/Golden Slipper winner, Phelan Ready who claimed the rare double in 2009.
More Than Ready is also the sire of both divisions of last years’ U.S Breeders’ Cup Juvenile and is one of an elite group to have produced mulitiple Golden Slipper winners.
More Awesome’s win is a career highlight for trainer Dean Wells who bought the chestnut 2yo for just $20,000 at the 2010 Gold Coast Magic Millions Yearling Sale.
The gelding is out of the Royal Academy mare, Breezer, who finished third in the Group 2 STC Magic Night Stakes behind Hosannah and Hanky Panky.
More Awesome ($2.60fav) defeated Gone Skiing by 1.8-lens with Whisper Downs close up in third.
