NOT many horses do it, not many are game to try, but Dubleo 3Yo Hot Hit made light work of skipping a grade when taking out the 2TM/92.9 Handicap (1000m) at Tamworth on Monday.

Trained locally by Mark Mason, Hot Hit resumed with a thumping win at Scone in a Maiden on August 2 streaking to a 7.3-lens victory with Robert Thompson aboard.

The veteran jockey was obviously keen to stick with the gelding, legged aboard again this time despite it being a Class 2 race.

Despite him being eligible for easier, punters wer ekeen on Hot Hit’s prospects sending him out as the $1.70 favourite.

In the end, there were given no reason for concern as Hot Hit cruised down to the wire 0.8-lens in front but with plenty left in reserve.

Hot Hit is the second foal oft he Marscay grand-daughter Almaren whose previous foal – also by Dubleo – is four times winner and noted speedster Hot Diggity.

Hot Hit has managed to pocket $27,330 in just three starts for connections.
