THE Vinery sold, John Size trained Eroico confirmed his place as one of the most promising young horses in Hong Kong when taking out the London Handicap at the International Meeting at Sha Tin last Sunday.
The race acts as the unofficial ‘newcomer’ event on the 10-race card showcasing the Territory’s rising stars. Eroico certainly proved his unfolding potential and class with a comprehensive 2.8-lens win with Joe Moreira in the saddle.
Bred in Australia, Eroico is by AJC Derby winner Starcraft out the Testa Rossa mare Collodi.
Eroico was sold as part of Vinery’s 2012 Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale draft.
The horse was knocked down to Aquanita Racing for $60,000.
Coincidentally, Eroico is from the same family as Able Friend who stole the show with his incredible victory in the Hong Kong Mile.
Testa Rossa is fast becoming a very accomplished broodmare sire with the mighty WA 3YO Disposition being out of one of his daughters.
